To prevent Microsoft Defender from scanning critical files and folders, you must add them to the list of exceptions. The "Defender Exclusion Tool" simplifies this process by simply dragging any files or folders onto its user interface. You can also use the buttons for files and folders. To remove a listed file or folder, you can select the item in the list and use the "Remove" (minus) button or you can right-click on it and select the "Delete Selected" function. You can also add the "Defender Exclusion Tool" to your context menu. Finally, you can use the export function to save all your settings. If you want to use these settings again in the future, e.g. after a system reset, you can use the import function.
