Waterfox is a fork of Mozilla's free and Open-Source web browser Firefox focused on power users. First published in 2011, it was one of the first widely distributed 64-Bit browsers on the web.
Initially "speed" was the most important development goal, but meanwhile the publisher attempts to build an ethical, user-oriented browser. also focused on privacy. Furthermore Waterfox maintainins support for legacy extensions.
There are currently two different versions available, one focused on a legacy branch maintaining security and bug fixes and another branch focusing on keeping up to date with the modern web.
This is the latter and frecommended one for the most users. In the case that you have your browser set up with various NPAPI plugins and bootstrap extensions that have not been updated as WebExtensions or for Waterfox Current, you should have a look at the classic version.
